Yesterday, I sorted out the maintenance and care of forklift brake systems. Today, I sorted out common faults and solutions for forklift brakes. I hope it will be helpful to you!
1. The forklift cannot brake when the brake pedal is stepped on.
Possible reasons: no oil in the master brake cylinder, oil leakage in the brake system pipeline, cracked and worn master cylinder leather cup causing oil leakage; the master cylinder piston leather ring is damaged, swollen or worn too much; the master cylinder piston leather ring is installed upside down; the slave cylinder piston leaks oil or the half-shaft oil seal is damaged, resulting in oil stains in the brake drum, causing the brake drum and friction lining to fail; the brake shoe friction lining is severely worn, etc.
2. There is resistance when stepping on the forklift brake pedal, and the braking effect is poor
Possible reasons: there is air in the brake system; insufficient brake fluid in the master cylinder; the booster return valve is damaged or dirty; the brake fluid cannot build up enough pressure, and the brake cannot be braked even if the brake pedal is stepped to the bottom; the gap between the brake drum and the friction lining is too large; the brake shoe is loose, etc.; the brake shoe is not installed correctly, and the brake clearance is improperly adjusted.
3. Braking delay, brake heating after long driving
Possible reasons: Supercharger parts stuck, improper brake stroke adjustment; the oil return hole of the master brake pump is blocked (covered by the swollen leather cup or blocked by dirt in the brake fluid), resulting in poor oil return and wheel brake drag; the brake fluid is dirty and the oil return is too slow; the master pump leather cup is swollen, and the leather cup cannot return quickly after releasing the brake pedal; the control valve seal ring is swollen, causing the air valve to close loosely, the air chamber in the power cylinder tympanum is exhausted, and the tympanum cannot return quickly; the copper tube between the master brake pump and the supercharger is deformed or clamped, which slows the oil return speed and causes brake drag.
4. Braking deviation
Possible reasons: The braking force of the left and right wheels is unbalanced, causing the forklift to deviate to one side when braking (the side that moves forward during braking should be checked for the brake clearance or the condition of the wheel cylinder on that side; the deviation is irregular, sometimes left and sometimes right. If the brake turns left first and then right, the left wheel should be checked first, otherwise the right wheel should be checked first); or the brake shoe friction pad or brake drum is oily.
