Today we will learn some tips on maintenance of the excavator cooling system.
First, open the excavator hood and loosen the wing nut. Remove and clean the dust screens in front of the oil cooler and air cooler.
Use high-pressure air or water to flush the radiator fins. Flush first from the outside of the radiator inwards and then from the inside out to remove any dust that is clinging to the radiator fins.
After cleaning, carefully check the gaps between the radiators. If there is any dirt, clean them again.
Open the water tank cover and the cover below the water tank, and place a water storage container under the water tank. Open the drain valve to drain the antifreeze inside the water tank.
Add cleaning fluid to the water tank and run the engine at low speed for 20 minutes. After draining the cleaning fluid, add clean purified water to the water tank and run the engine again for 20 minutes.
Shut down the excavator, drain the water after the engine has cooled down, and add antifreeze suitable for the ambient temperature to the specified capacity.
If it is a model with a fan in the engine, if the fan belt is too loose, it will lead to poor heat dissipation and charging of the device, as well as early wear of the belt and other failures. If the belt is too tight, it will cause damage to the water pump, generator and air compressor. Please check the fan belt tension every 250 hours (first 50 hours)!
Inspection method: After the excavator is stopped, press down on the center of the fan wheel and generator pulley. When the pressure is 10kg, the belt sag should be 10mm. Different excavators have different regulations. Please refer to the factory regulations for details.
After following the above steps, your excavator cooling system will be better maintained!
